Christmas & New Year
Lantern Making Workshops
The first lantern making workshop took place at Hanley Community Fire Station as part of the October meeting and was a huge success with a record number of people taking part. Students from Keele joined us for the subsequent sessions in November at B-Arts which turned out to be challenging, hard work but huge fun and immensely gratifying. All lanterns were completed…including the giant ribbon lantern…all LED lights installed and working. Terrific!
It was wonderful to see the lanterns lit up for the World AIDS Day Vigil in Hanley, and extremely gratifying to see so many of our members supporting the event this year. Well done!
Wind in the Willows
Our trip to the New Vic Theatre for the first night of Wind in the Willows went down really well with very positive feedback from all who attended. Animated fish in the river, burrows under the banks and trees in the wild wood… all appeared magically. It was not only the imaginative setting, lighting and props that got us hooked into the show…but also the enthusiastic, multi-talented cast who played instruments, sang, danced and peopled the stage with an amazing array of characters. The team of professional actors were augmented by groups of local children who performed magnificently. Great show!
November Meeting
At our November meeting, Zi Makhiwa gave an informal presentation about the great work done by CareLink who have similar objectives to us. We have encouraged her to come again and bring along isolated LGBT people who have contacted CareLink.
December Meeting
There was definitely a Christmas feel to our December meeting with lantern light, festive food and carols. We played our own version of charades based on the quiz game ‘Give us a Clue!’ Lots of laughs with no charade titles were left unsolved. The remainder of the evening was spent enjoying the shared food and socialising.
A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR!
