World AIDS Day 1 December 2017
There was a good turn out for the candlelight Vigil in Hanley…despite the wintery weather. For the first time for many years, Staffordshire Buddies joined forces with GayLife Stoke and Galaxy Youth to walk together from the Piccadilly Centre to Fountain Square for the Vigil. The theme this year was:
It was a real pleasure to welcome Hassan and Alison and we hope they will become regular members
With several members having already gained experience in the first November printmaking workshop, the place quickly became a hive of activity. Everyone, had a chance to print off at least a couple of prints in the session. It never ceases to amaze at how swiftly, new people are warmly integrated into the group. Marvelous!
The Printmaking workshops are funded by the People’s Health Trust
Despite awful wintery conditions…the attendance was surprisingly good. We welcomed two new people…and cheered those from Bradeley Village who arrived later having overcome a multitude of setbacks to get to us.
Rachel inspired us to produce some amazing work within the restricted time. We created movement in one of the picture galleries…inspired by its sculptures and paintings. Later we found ourselves freely improvising words and movements in the Spitfire Gallery. When Rachel invited visitors to come past to get closer to the exhibit, the said that they would prefer to watch us!
Professional photographers recorded the session…so there was no chance to take our own pictures
Next Dance Workshop is 1pm-3:30pm Friday 19th January at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, Hanley
